Hong Kong Housing Society
Mr Marco Wu is the Chairman of the Hong Kong Housing Society. He is a past President of The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors and The Hong Kong Institute of Real Estate Administrators, and was a member of the Long Term Housing Strategy Steering Committee. Mr Wu is a Fellow of The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors and The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, an Honorary Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Construction Managers, The Hong Kong Institute of Facility Management and The University of College of Estate Management, UK, and an Honorary Advisor of The Hong Kong Coalition of Professional Services Ltd.
Mr Wu had served the Government for 39 years. He was the Deputy Director of Housing from 1996 to 2003 and the Director of Buildings from 2003 to 2006. During his 26 years with the Housing Department, he made significant contribution to the formulation and review of major housing policies. As Director of Buildings, he was responsible for developing policies and strategies governing the control and facilitation of private building developments.
Mr Wu devoted himself to the work of the Hong Kong Housing Society after retiring from the civil service. He was the Vice-Chairman of the Housing Society from 2006 to 2012 and has been the Chairman since 2012. Mr Wu has been leading the Housing Society in fulfilling its mission of serving the people of Hong Kong in housing and related services, including providing subsidized housing for the needy, addressing housing and service needs of the elderly, redeveloping and rehabilitating aged rental estates to improve the living environment, and exploring new housing solutions for different income and age groups of the community.
Mr Wu was awarded Silver Bauhinia Star in 2006 and Gold Bauhinia Star in 2014 for his dedicated service to the community.
