Born and educated in Hong Kong, Mrs Lam is an architect by profession and is the former Director of Architectural Services of the Hong Kong SAR Government.

After her retirement, she continues to link up with the professional circle, the construction industry and the community in other capacities to serve and contribute. Mrs. Lam is the Board Member of the Hospital Authority, Non-Executive Board Member of the Urban Renewal Authority, Executive Committee Member of the Hong Kong Housing Society, and Council Member of the Hong Kong Baptist University.

Mrs. Lam is also a Fellow Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects and Honorary Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Facility Management.
