Head of Jury Panel

Mr Au is a professional building surveyor. He is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors of U.K. and Member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers of USA. After completing his education in the Hong Kong Polytechnic, he joined the Hong Kong Government in 1974. He has held a number of positions in the then Buildings Ordinance Office, Building Development Department, Buildings and Lands Department and Buildings Department. He is now the Director of the Buildings Department. He has over thirty years of experience in building control, especially in the review and formulation of statutory standards in the design and construction of buildings. He was the chief drafter of a number of Codes of Practice which are still in force. These include the Codes of Practice for "Means of Escape 1996", "Fire Resisting Construction 1996", "Means of Access for Fire Fighting and Rescue 1995", "Overall Thermal Transfer Value in Buildings 1995" and "Building Works for Lifts and Escalators 1993".

 



Prof. CHAU is currently Chair Professor of Real Estate and Construction at The University of Hong Kong. He has been teaching at The University of Hong Kong since 1987. He served as Dean of Faculty of Architecture during 2002-2005. Prof. Chau received the International Real Estate Society Achievement Award in 1999. He was President of the Asian Real Estate Society in 1996-7 and President of the International Real Estate Society in year 2000-2001. Prof. Chau's main areas of research include real estate investment and finance, sustainable development and building performance assessment. Most of his works are empirical studies with implications for policy makers, practitioners and investors.

 



Prof. the Honourable Patrick Lau Sau-shing, SBS JP is a Legislative Councillor and Fellow Member and Past President of HKIA. He is an Honorary University Fellow, Honorary Professor, and former Professor and Head of the Department of Architecture at The University of Hong Kong, and Honorary Professor in the College of Humanities and Law in HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education. He received the HKIA Annual Award in 1984, 1989, 1996 and 2008, and the HKIA Medal of the Year in 2001 and 2002. He also received the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award in 1984, the HKIA Outstanding Architect Award in 1991, and the Artist of the Year Award in 1999. He was honoured with the Silver Bauhinia Star in 2000 and appointed Justice of the Peace in 2004.

He serves as Member of Hong Kong Housing Authority, a Founding Director of Hong Kong Architecture Centre, Council Member of The Open University of Hong Kong, and Board Member of Ocean Park Corporation, and honorary adviser for various professional institutions. He also served as the Founding Chairman of Professional Green Building Council, Vice Chairman of Town Planning Board, Member of Antiquities Advisory Board, and Chairman of Hong Kong Trade Development Council Infrastructure Development Advisory Committee.

 



Kendrew is the Managing Director of Savills Property Management Holdings Ltd and is responsible for day to day running and development of property and asset management business in Hong Kong and Macau.

Kendrew is the Honourable member of both the Hong Kong Institute of Housing and Institute of Shopping Centre Management. He is also the Fellow member of Chartered Institute of Building (UK) and the Australian Institute of Building. He is the Immediate Past President and Chairman of Disciplinary Panel of the Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies. He also serves as a member of the Appeal Board Panel (Electricity) of Electrical and Mechanical Services Department and the Executive Committee Member of the BEAM Society.

Kendrew's other appointments includes member of Energy Conservation Projects Vetting Sub-Committee of Environmental Protection Department and member of Property Management and Security Industry Consulting Committee of Employees Retraining Board. Recently in February, Kendrew also joined the Green Labelling Working Group of the Professional Green Building Council and is appointed as BEAM Pro accredited to promote the principles of green building and facilitate the green building certification process.

 



Ir Professor Francis Wong is a Professor in the Department of Building and Real Estate (BRE) as well as the Director of the Research Centre for Construction and Real Estate Economics (RCCREE) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He was the Head of BRE from academic year 2005/6 to 2007/08, and is currently the Award Coordinator for the BSc (Hons) in Property Management. He has 30 years of academic and practical experiences, and has published more than a hundred papers in including journal articles, conference papers, professional journals, research monographs, and consultancy reports. His main research interests include affordable housing development, and construction safety.

Francis obtained his BSc (Hons) in Building from the Brighton Polytechnic, MSc in Architecture from the London University, and his PhD from the South Bank University. He is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (FCIOB), a Fellow Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Construction Managers (FHKICM), and a Fellow Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (FHKIE). Francis is currently the Chairman of the International CIOB Health and Safety Advisory Sub Group in Hong Kong. Also, he is the Chairman of the Student Chapter Committee and a Board Member of the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB).

 



Comrade Xu Jianhua has been engaged 18 years on the research of property management, compiled the first training textbook named 《Professional ethics and services etiquette on property management 》in China. He have published respectivly more than 50 pieces of the article about the property management theory on national and provincial journals, such as "the try of reformed housing property management"、"The management"、" explore the Invitation to Tender and Submission to Tender on property management"、 "Developing strategies and innovative management, deserve to be mentioned that "Brand Management on Property Management" was named as the second prize in the 13th Guangdong modern enterprise management results; "achieving the shifts of priority in our development strategy, promoting the development of new socialist countryside" was evaluated as the first prize of excellent research papers by the《find》magazine of State property management in 2006;"the useful exploitation in the process of the new rural construction on property management" was included in the 48th《the Chinese property management》as one of the good achievements.

 



Mr. Gary Yeung had achieved BSc(Hon) Degree and MBA from the University of Reading, and LLB from the University of London. He was qualified as a Fellow Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Hong Kong Institute of Facility Management. He has more than 20 years experience in real estate management, working in organizations including the HKSAR Government, developer, project consultancy practice and property management companies. Currently he is the General Manager of Shui On Properties Management Limited. He also makes use of his leisure to serve the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors on a voluntary basis for more than 10 years initially in the Building Surveying Division, and thereafter in the Property and Facility Management Division, Board of Membership and General Council. He is currently the Chairman of the Property and Facility Management Division. He had participated in several legislative consultations essentially the amendment of Building Management Ordinance (Cap 344) and Mandatory Building Inspection Scheme. He was the core writer of a proposal namely “Building Affairs Tribunal” which was submitted to the Government in 2005 and had attracted much debate during the MBIS consultation.
